How to Get Glowing Skin

If you could eat your way to younger looking skin would you do it? Can we tell you a secret? You can eat your way to younger looking skin! We can’t stress enough how important eating healthy foods are. They help with everything from preventing illness to improving digestion to, you guessed, it, improving your skin. We spend so much money on beauty products for our skin (not that they don’t work, because they do) but we should also spend our time focusing on eating the right things. Here’s a list of foods that will keep you looking young and give you that glowing skin you’ve always wanted.

Tomatoes – Tomatoes have lycopene which is what makes them red. Consuming tomatoes 3-5 times per week will protect your skin from UV rays and the damage they do. Lycopene also helps fight acne and reduces spots.

Kale – One of our favorite superfoods! It’s packed with anti-aging vitamins like A, C, E, and K. Vitamin K helps reduce the visibility of spider veins, stretch marks, bruising, and scars. Read all about why we love kale here

BerriesBerries are great for your skin because they boost collagen production which keeps your skin smooth and firm. People who consume strawberries on a regular basis are likelier to have less wrinkles. Berries also help prevent acne because of their high levels of antioxidants.

Fish & Seafood (particularly Salmon) – Fish like salmon are particularly high in Omega-3’s. Omega-3’s help to slow down the process of wrinkling. Doctors say you should consume fish at least 3 times per week to help reduce the signs of aging and acne.

Turmeric – We love us some tumeric (we added it to our new Advanced Cleanse)! It has great health benefits but also helps reduce dark spots and scars. We combine tumeric with coconut oil to make a great face mask, you should definitely try this at home!

Eggs – For those of you who don’t eat the whole egg, now you may want to. The yolk is rich in vitamins including Biotin which is great for protecting your skin against rashes, acne, and even dry spots. The yolks also have antioxidants that help against UV damage which can lead to skin cancer.

Walnuts – Like, fish, walnuts are high in Omega-3’s. Omega-3 oils keep your skin hydrated which prevents wrinkles and dry cracked skin during the cold months.

Oysters – Who knew oysters helped your skin? They have high amounts of the mineral zinc which helps your body make the proteins it needs to repaired damaged tissue. So if your skin is damaged from the sun, load on up on oysters!

Chocolate – Ahhh, it’s like music to our ears! Everyone time we want to indulge on a little piece, we’ll know we’re doing it for the greater good of our skin, right?! Chocolate actually contains an antioxidant called flavanol. Flavanols help protect your skin against UV rays and keep your skin texture soft.

Broccoli & Spinach – We love to load up our leafy greens! Turns out, leafy greens like broccoli and spinach are high in alpha lipoic acid. They help fight aging, redness and blotches on the skin, puffiness, under eye circles, and wrinkles! We’ll be loading up on these daily, who’s with us?!
